This is just a little teaser from the weekends adventures. Let's get one thing straight though, if you're after the location of this little untouched gem I will not be telling you where it is. There aren't many secluded spots like this left on the Gold Coast these days so I'm going to do my best to keep it Gold Coast best kept secret.
I've been wanting to photograph this location for almost two years and I spent countless hours on google earth to find it. Can't wait to head back here and shoot it with better weather conditions.
If you're after pricing on this image for some home decor for your renovations please email me at jon@jonwrightphoto.com and I will be happy to sort out an affordable price for you.

WOAHHH what an amazing way to finish off the weekend here on the Gold Coast. It was torrential rain all of last night and yesterday and today we woke up to overcast clouds, messy surf….UNTIL this happened.

I haven't been to point Arkwright in over 8 years but I will certainly be heading back again soon. All year round the weather is pretty warm and doesn't ever get uncomfortable which is a plus for swimming and snorkeling. You will get days like Saturday where it was just perfect.

Over the past few months I’ve really been focusing on two types of photography. Portraits with my new brand “Blank Canvas Photography” and ocean art and shore break photography. I’ve always loved shooting landscape and seascapes and during this time they certainly took a little back step in priority.

As ex tropical cyclone Oswald rolled through Queensland Australia all sorts of things were being washed up on our beautiful sandy beaches. The day after the rain had stopped and the sun was finally shining through to the high-rise buildings on the Gold Coast, tree stumps, logs, plastic bottles and branches all rolled up in different parts of the Gold Coast.
This photographic artwork was capture on Rainbow bay beach just in-between Greenmount and snapper rocks (a popular spot for many surf photographers) Though the winds were too strong and windy I was the only one on the beach, I noticed how lucky I was to find the debris (hence the name) and composed a shot just in time for sunrise.
Lucky debris is part of a series of mine, there is this shot and the other where the white wash from the waves and ocean have brushed up against the debris. Photographs of the ocean and in particular seascape photography on the Gold Coast can be hard to find a unique angle. Fortunately this is one of a kind and a popular photograph to have stretched on canvas.
Gold Coast images gallery and café currently have a this image on a stretched canvas hanging in their art gallery. Our high quality 400gsm fine art canvas offers a fine structure & a premium bright white inkjet coating for amazing reproduction of art and photography. Combine this with genuine ultrachrome inks of professional Epson printers & you have a canvas print with longevity of 100+ years. Each canvas is then sprayed with a liquid laminate, which not only enhances colour but also protects against UV fading, dust, minor scratches & water. Then expertly gallery wrapped over a stretcher bar made from quality Australian pine & finished with a tape seal backing & plastic coated hanging wire.

So over the last 6 weeks I have had a focus on my ocean art and surf photography from the Gold coast area. Today I’m going to show case some of my seascapes and ocean images from the beach and in particular from Broadbeach and surfers paradise which are both very popular tourists destinations.
Walk alone – In the early hours of the morning I set foot on the cold winter sand of Broadbeach, just up from the surf club and just south from the popular Surfers paradise. The weather was a little cloudy and cold but no matter the weather you will always come across the avid sunrise walkers who enjoy the walk along the beach relishing the sunrise and the waves that slowly move towards high rise buildings.
Many Australian photographers often don’t appreciate what is at our door step. We live in one of the most beautiful destinations in the world with some of the best beaches I have ever seen. National geographic also rated Fraser island in the “top 10 beaches” in the world. Surfers paradise is just south of Fraser island and the high rise cityscape along the beach makes for beautiful photography, not to mention most of the year the perfect temperatures.
This photograph captures the Gold Coast ocean lifestyle, the early morning walks, a tranquillity in a place filled with people which can be found at the right time of day, SUNRISE. Just a 5 minute walk down the road you will find this exact image hanging in “Gold coast images gallery & café” in Broadbeach. You can purchase loads of photographs of the ocean and fine art canvases from this gallery and this Gold Coast Art gallery showcases not one photographer but several artists from the Gold Coast.
On that note here is a quick look inside the café gallery, head on down and check them out as the prints look 100x better in person, the detail in a print is by far superior than the internet or Facebook has to offer.

Webbed hands is one of my favorite photographic pieces of ocean art that I have taken on the Gold Coast. The backwash from the nearby rock wall was creating some amazing flares in the waves as they crashed down onto the sand. I spent hours floating around near Kingscliff beach to capture this little wave and capture the back wash.
Upon reviewing my images from this session this photo really appealed to me. I was staring at it on my computer screen looking at all the different textures and colours, how the wave looks like it has some hands pushing through to say “hello” or maybe the ocean is trying to grab me and consume me.
Photos of the ocean from this particular spot create for some amazing clarity in the water. I have several other images in my online store catalog from the same day including this panoramic shot where you can see the nearby rock wall and the sand beneath the wave.
Surf photography camera equipment I use to capture these amazing photos of the ocean.
· Canon 5D mkIII & Canon 7D
· Tokina 10-17mm fisheye (soon to be upgraded)
· Aquatech CO-7 water housing
· Aquatech LP1 Dome port
· Aquatech pistol grip
The Aquatech water housing systems are some of the best sports housing available. The team at Aquatech are constantly working hard at producing incredible customer service along with a vast range of knowledge and expertise. The main reason I have chosen Aqautech instead of some of the other brands out there is for their customer service, interchangeable ports and pistol grips can be interchangeable with other housings. I originally bought the CO-7 water housing for my Canon 7D but thankfully the same water housing was able to fit my Canon 5DmkIII with a small upgrade to the back plate and buttons and also the locking plate.
My advice when purchasing a water housing for your DSLR camera is to look at it from an investment point of view and work out how it will save you money in the long run. After all these items aren’t cheap and you want to use them for as long as you possibly can.
You can purchase webbed hands via my online store; you can also purchase any of my ocean art photographic giclee’s on canvas, metallic photographic paper and acrylics. If you would like to see these items in person head on down to Gold coast images gallery and café in Broadbeach QLD Australia where you can see loads of my work printed on canvas and framed metallic prints. You can also purchase these items from the gallery.
